    The Complete Wedding Photography Workflow

A wedding creates a chain of decisions: what to upload, what to remove, what the couple keeps, what guests can find, what gets delivered and what goes into the album. Handle them in the wrong order and every step waits on the one before it. This guide lays out the whole chain as one workflow — upload, cull, select, face scan, share and deliver, album, archive — with the handover point at each stage and where Smart Photo Selection does the repetitive work.

    The chain at a glance

    1. Upload the wedding into the booking, one folder per function.
    2. Cull the rejects before anyone else looks.
    3. Select: the couple chooses and submits a locked set.
    4. Face scan: guests find their own photos from the same gallery.
    5. Deliver the approved set through one gallery link, as a ZIP.
    6. Album: build sheets from the same booking's photos.
    7. Archive the originals, the print files and the layered PSDs.

    Stage 1 — Upload

One booking per wedding, one folder per function: haldi, mehendi, ceremony, reception. Uploads run several photos at a time in the background, keep failed files for retry, and resume if interrupted. Structure matters more than speed here, because every later stage — culling, the couple's selection, the guest scan and the album — reads the same folders. Fix the folder names, the brief questions and the checklist once, and reuse them for every wedding so a second photographer can pick the chain up. See bulk photo upload and upload and organise event photos.

    Stage 2 — Cull

Remove missed focus, test frames and repeated shots while the day is still fresh. AI-assisted culling sets aside blurry and duplicate frames first, so the first pass is a series of short decisions rather than an evening of scrolling. The couple should never see a reject: their confidence in the gallery starts with what you chose to show them. Full detail in the culling workflow.

    Stage 3 — Client selection

Share the gallery link. The couple marks favourites folder by folder, filters to what they have chosen, and submits. Submission locks the set, which is the handover the whole workflow turns on: from that moment, editing, delivery and album design all start from an agreed list. You download it as a ZIP. See the client photo selection workflow.

Stage 4 — Face scan for guests

Running alongside selection, guests open the same gallery, scan their face in the browser and get the photos they appear in — no app, no account, no sorting on your part. Print the QR code at the venue, show it on a screen, and send the link the next morning. It searches the photos already uploaded for this booking, so there is nothing extra to maintain.

Stage 6 — Album and archive

Open Album Studio from the booking: choose the photos, then let the AI Album Generator compose the sheets, fill a library template, or map the photos into your own PSD designs through album automation. Review every sheet, resolve any photo flagged below 200 ppi, keep faces clear of the fold, and export at full size; the album delivery workflow handles client review rounds. Then keep the originals, the delivered ZIP, the final print files and the layered PSDs together: each booking shows its photo period and deletion date, so check it covers the whole chain and extend it when a client needs longer. Album projects are stored in the browser on the device you use, which makes exported files your real backup.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the correct order of steps after a wedding?

Upload into folders, cull, let the couple select and submit, share with guests, deliver the approved set, then build the album from the same selection and archive everything.

Do I need different tools for each stage?

In Smart Photo Selection, upload, selection, galleries, face scan and the album studio all read the same booking, so nothing is uploaded or exported twice between stages.

    When should guests get access?

Once the cull is done — they should never scroll past rejects. Share the QR code during the event and the link afterwards.

Can the album start before delivery?

Yes. Both work from the submitted selection, so album design and photo delivery can run in parallel rather than one blocking the other.

How do I keep the workflow repeatable across photographers?

Fix the folder structure, the brief, the culling rules and the pre-print checklist, then use them for every wedding. See the photography workflow page for the full map.
