How to Edit an AI-Generated Album Design

Refine AI-generated wedding album spreads: regenerate a sheet, change photos and crops, resize frames, edit text and exposure layers, and keep it all off the fold.

    Short answer

Review the sheets in Preview & export and click Regenerate on any sheet whose layout you dislike. To refine a sheet, click Edit: select a photo to Change Photo or Adjust Crop, resize frames with Move / select, edit text on its layer, and adjust exposure blends through their masks and opacity. Click Save Sheet when the sheet is right.

    What You Need

    • An album generated with Create with AI (see how to create a wedding album with AI).
    • A desktop or laptop screen at least 1024 px wide for the editor.
    • A clear idea of which sheets the client must approve, so you edit in the right order.

    Decide: regenerate or edit?

An AI-generated sheet is a starting point, not a locked result. Two different tools fix two different problems. If the structure of a sheet is wrong (the wrong photo is the hero, the balance between the pages feels off, the layout repeats an earlier sheet), regenerate it: each regeneration uses a new seed and composes a new design from the same photos. If the structure is right but details are off (a crop cuts a hand, a caption is wrong, a frame is slightly too large), edit the sheet. Regenerating after detailed edits replaces those edits, so regenerate first and edit last.

Step by step: refine a generated sheet

    1. 1

      Regenerate weak sheets first

In Preview & export, click Regenerate on the sheet card. Per-sheet regenerate is available for automatic designs with Professional templates (AI picks) or Designed spreads. The header Generate more sheets button designs new sheets and adds them after the existing ones.

    2. 2

      Open the sheet

Click Edit on the sheet card, or Open in Editor for the album. The sheet opens with every photo, wash, exposure and text as its own layer in the Layers tab.

    3. 3

      Swap a photo

Select the photo and click Change Photo in the floating bar. The picker has Album photos, Booking gallery and From computer tabs; choose a frame and click Use this photo. The frame keeps its shape and position.

    4. 4

      Fix the crop

Click Adjust Crop (or press C for Crop photo in frame) and drag the photo inside the frame. In the options bar, Fill frame covers the frame and Whole photo shows the full image. Crops always keep the photo's ratio; nothing is stretched.

    5. 5

      Resize or move frames

With Move / select (V), drag a frame or its corners. Corners keep the ratio unless Free transform is on. Use arrow keys to nudge 1 px (Shift for 10 px) and Align to canvas: to line frames up.

    6. 6

      Edit the text

Select the text layer and change words, Font, Size, Weight and Colour in the Properties tab. Add a new title with Layer › New text layer.

    7. 7

      Tune exposure blends

Exposure layers are named like Exposure — portrait. Lower their Opacity, change the blend mode, or paint on the layer mask (Layer › Layer mask › Paint on mask) to bring back or hide part of the blend.

    8. 8

      Save

Click Save Sheet. When it shows Save Sheet ✓, the final sheet is rendered and any temporary uploads for it are removed.

The centre fold while you edit

Generated layouts never place photos or text across the fold, and the editor keeps it that way. If you drag a photo or a text layer across the dashed FOLD line, it is moved and resized onto one page with a 0.125 in margin, and a message explains Photos and text can't cross the centre fold — moved onto the left/right page. Keep faces a little further from the fold than the minimum; see how to keep faces off the centre fold.

Changing the number of photos on a sheet

To remove a photo, select it and use Remove Photo (keep slot) to leave an empty frame, or delete the layer (Del) to remove the frame too. To add one, use Add Photo and place it in free space. For a substantially different count, it is usually better to go back to the design step, set Exactly N — all on one sheet, and regenerate that sheet, because the engine rebalances all frames around the new count. Layouts for a common count are compared in how to arrange 7 photos on a spread.

    Finish the photos

Layout first, then photo finishing. Once the sheet's composition is approved, retouch and grade the photos in place: see how to retouch skin naturally and how to colour grade wedding photos. Use Edit › Copy adjustments and Paste adjustments to all photos so neighbouring photos match.

    Tips

    • Regenerate before you fine-tune; regeneration replaces manual edits on that sheet.
    • Use the History tab to jump back if an edit goes wrong (up to 100 steps per sheet).
    • Press Ctrl+K for the command palette when you forget where a command lives.
    • Hold Before/After to check that colour changes still look natural.

    Common Mistakes

    • Editing details, then regenerating

Regenerate first. Once a sheet's structure is right, make the detailed edits.

    • Stretching a photo to fill a frame

Photos are never stretched; use Adjust Crop and Fill frame instead of distorting the frame.

    • Enlarging a frame without checking resolution

A bigger frame lowers the photo's effective ppi. Watch for the below-200-ppi warning.

    • Forgetting to save

Changes autosave, but only Save Sheet renders the final sheet. Save each sheet before exporting.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Will regenerating change the photos used?

Regenerating a sheet composes a new design for the photos assigned to it. To change which photos are used, edit the selection or change photos in the editor.

Can I turn an AI sheet into a template?

Not directly. You can duplicate a sheet (File › Duplicate sheet) and reuse the layout within the album.

    Can I undo a regenerate?

Regenerating replaces the sheet's design. If you might want the old design, duplicate the sheet first.

Are my edits kept if I close the browser?

Yes, on the same device and browser. Edits autosave as you work; projects are not synced to other devices.
